The World waited for Wave and yet again it failed to gain popularity among the users leading to its closure .Google Intended to launch its messaging program in 2009, to replace the old and tiring e-mail system. But just a few hours ago , The big search engine firm announced that they are about to shut the program by the end of 2011 because of low traction with consumers.
It was a Online software application which was described as a new web application for real time communications and collaboration. It merged e-mail , instant messaging , wiki’s and social networking. Google doesn’t want to develop Wave as a standalone product anymore, but they will maintain the site at least through the end of this year and will try to use this technology in other future projects.
This service aimed to combine all the features and methods of online communication such as IM , e-mails , twitter feeds etc into a single application – “Wave”. Developers were always a bit unsure about how the internet users will adopt Wave. People who used Google Wave found the app confusing and tangled.
The two master minded danish brother , Jens and Lars Rasmussen, who were the main developers of the successful Google Maps were totally behind the creation of Google Wave as well. Their ambition with Wave was not only limited for the creation of a marvolous product that would change the present of online cummunication systems but also to prove that innovation was still possible at a huge corporation like Google. They wanted to make Google Wave completely new and therefore it turned risky.
Google still appreciates their hard work and praises them for making so much of advancements in computer science programming.
We all must be excited about what they are going to develop in the near future as Google continues to create new ideas with a lot of potential to advance the technology and the whole world wide web.
Maybe next time, more and more people will use it.
